Description

The summer season at Chess4Life is all about providing our students with fun, memorable experiences through a variety of weekly camps. Summer camps are a high energy, rewarding experience for our students and staff. In this position you will support Chess4Life summer camp operations by coaching small groups of students in their daily chess lessons or supporting other instructors as they instruct students. We operate a STEM camp program that includes chess, coding, robotics, and space. Camp coaches observe and supervise students during their lunch and break periods and may also assist directing traffic in our parking lot to ensure that pickup and drop off periods run smoothly. If you are interested in a fun summer work opportunity this is a great chance to gain new skills and have a fun time serving our students. Summer coaches are also eligible for employment after the camps season should that be desired.

This position is focused on leading effective coding camps for our students.  The curriculum for the camp has been developed by Chess4Life and focuses on teaching simple procedural generation, physical simulation, and game design.

If you are interested in a fun summer work opportunity this is a great chance to gain new skills and have a fun time serving our students.  Summer coaches are also eligible for employment after the camps season should that be desired.

This position will be based out of our Bellevue location but may be asked to travel locally to other Chess4Life locations.

Description

We are looking to add to our summer staff with some energetic, capable achievers that are interested in a fun challenge in a great environment. These are summer season positions that support Chess4Life customers, students, and staff by ensuring exceptional customer experiences, precise organization and administration, and a great attitude. This position entails routine daily administrative tasks including front-desk management, support and coordination of broader projects, and seasonally varied tasks in a friendly workplace serving primarily elementary-age children and parents.

Job Requirements

    Position tasks

  • Greet customers and students as they arrive at our center
  • Respond to email, answer phones, record registrations, enter data, file, collect payments
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of Chess4Life services
  • Respond to client inquiries
  • Complete assigned projects in a timely manner
  • Assist camp staff as needed to ensure smooth and safe operation of our camp programs
  • Various other tasks/procedures as needed

Compensation / Schedule:

Position Type: Hourly Non-Exempt

Hourly wage: $16 to $18 / hour, Based on Experience

Schedule: Afternoon & Evenings Bellevue Position: 30 to 40 Hours / Week

Redmond Position: 30 to 35 Hours / Week

Issaquah Position: 20 to 25 Hours / Week

Bothell Position: 20 to 25 Hours / Week

We are currently hiring for positions in our School Chess Clubs. At Chess4Life, a desire to help kids learn, grow, and develop is more important than chess skill. Chess Coach positions are a great part time opportunity for anyone interested in a rewarding work experience. Chess Coaches join with other members of our team to teach elementary aged students the game of chess in an after school chess club.

We have positions in Bellevue, Redmond, Seattle, Issaquah, and Bothell.

Job Requirements

Compensation: Coaches in our school clubs generally earn between $35 and $65 for a one hour chess class Coaches earn an hourly rate from $16 to $20 / hour plus a bonus for each school taught.

Schedule Openings: This is a full time opportunity with most work hours in the afternoon evenings. Summer schedules are generally standard business hours.
