“I believe that a big fear that the name “Chess4Life” gives you is the thought that you have to know all about chess to work here – but you don’t!  If you are in college and are looking for a job that is flexible with your homework schedule whilst provides you with a wide breadth of mentor-ship, this job is for you.  As an Organizational Communication major, I was able to put into practice the things I was learning in school as well as receive valuable experience in the communication field.  I strongly believe that, if it had not been for my job at Chess4Life, I would have been less successful in the long run. If you are looking for a job, I highly recommend working at Chess4Life. The positive culture, surrounded by a mission to teach kids life skills they need as adults, coupled with the mentor-ship provided by the leadership, makes Chess4Life one of the top places I would suggest working at during your college years.”

Chess Coaches are the core of Chess4Life. Chess Coaches have the continual privilege of positively impacting the lives of children by teaching life skills through the game of chess. We have openings for all levels of skill in the game of chess. At Chess4Life, a desire to help kids learn, grow, and develop is more important than chess skill. As a chess coach you get the opportunity to be a hero to your students by providing them with a fun, engaging, and supportive learning experience. We have opportunities available in Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, Bothell, Seattle, Everett, and in schools throughout the Puget Sound.

A Chess Coach must work well with kids, both individually and in groups; be patient; be able to develop and direct Assistant Coaches and Volunteers, be a team player, possess classroom management skills, exhibit responsibility, and be willing to keep learning. A Coach must care about the success of the students. Chess Coach positions are available for all levels of skill. Very flexible hours, part-time or full-time work – mostly after-school hours. Head coaches make from $18 – $30 per hour.
